Today we went to a school on the Island of Virgin Gorda. We had fun with the children. We flew airplanes and played sports. Later we went to a beach and did a cleanup. Pasta for dinner was great but a little heavy on the garlic.

The weather was amazing today! Hot with a nice breezeWe visited a local school today and played with all the kids. We did face painting, played tag, made bracelets and learned how to make balloon animals. The kids really had a great time. The group seems to be getting more unified which is really nice to see, it brings a good sense of community.

The weather this morning was a little cloudy but managed to get sunnier for the rest of the day. 6am was a little early for wake up time, but the sail to Savannah Bay made up for it. Plus the pancakes for breakfast didn't hurt either. After dinner and showers but Lifeworks boats met up and had an introduction and meeting.

We left the dock and had a long sail. We nearly sailed for 6 hours. It was Kim's birthday and we baked her a cake but we didn't have any candles so we wrote Happy B-day in cheerios. We took our first shower in the ocean and Will let two towels blow away and Noah lost a deck bucket. We learned how to sail, tack and drive the boat. We all tried to sleep outside but it started raining a little so then we all went inside.

Well, after a very long day of traveling we all got to Tortola safe and sound. Some of us arrived mid morning while others of us didn't get here till dinner time. All of the Actionquest and Lifeworks boats were all parked on the same dock so we had a chance to meet and see everyone else. The weather turned rainy in the evening while some of us were sleeping out on the deck. Which resulted in a few slips and falls and a little confusion. Everything was chaotic and confusing on our first day. We all bonded and got to know each other over a violent game of spoons and the 3 golden rules.

Day 20
Author: Paige S.
Location: West End, Tortola
Today was the big race. Emeraude won, as they won all the other races. The race was from the Bight, around a buoy in Road Town, and ending in Great Harbor, Peter Island. After the race everyone cleaned up. The most entertaining part of the day was when we all put on face paint, consisting of lipstick and eyeliner. The weather was not the best for a race, because it rained and the wind was really mild. Also, today was Sam's 21st birthday. We ate some cake Chris made for her. Tonight is also the last BBQ. This was a great last day for this session!

Today we woke up and collected sail side's dinghies so that they could have a fair race. We then did our last dive, at the Indians, then motored to West End and cleaned our boat for hours. Finally, we got to go on shore and eat at Pussers. Tonight we are having a BBQ and everyone is sad that it is our last night.

Our final day is coming to an end and we're all shocked at how soon our experience here will be over. The morning began with an early sail and dive at the Indians. Afterwards, Jason gallantly jumped ship and saved our mooring as we set off to West End, where we all first met one another just three weeks ago. The afternoon was filled with endless boat cleaning until Alexandra shined with immaculate cleanliness. The night was concluded with a BBG and tearful goodbyes. Bye Alexandra, we love you!

We sailed to the Rhone today and got to dive a shipwreck. It was the best dive I've ever been on. We saw three turtles. We then sailed and had a mini race between Emeraude, Watermelon, and Musgrave to the Bight. We then made dinner by ourselves when the staff had a staff meeting. Wow! They finally came back and all of the shipmates and Sam had a food fight, running around the whole boat with food everywhere. Nice cleanup tonight!

On this fine day, we arose to more loud music. After a breakfast of pancakes, we sailed forth to dive the Fearless. I was fearful, however, as I have been told that I use more air while diving than anyone who has ever had the pleasure of attending ActionQuest. After the dive, which was extremely enjoyable, we motored to Road Town, where we ate lunch and had ice cream that was unnnaturally cold. After Road Town we sailed/motored to Norman Island, where we performed the final AQ ritual of writing sentimental cards to our fellow shipmates and staff members, thank you ActionQuest.

Location: The Bight, Norman Island
We woke up at 7:30 and ate pancakes. After we ate, we dove the Fearless, which was great. We then went to Road Town, where we ate lunch, had amazing ice cream, and chilled for awhile. We then had a sailing race between all the dive side boats to Norman Island. We were winning at first, but then Alexandra caught up and won. We also put up a big new pirate flag! Once we got the Norman Island we dropped the anchor and made dinner, while making dinner a boat selling ice cream came by and we all got ice cream. Now we are enjoying one of our last nights all together.

Location: The Bight, Norman Island
After another early wake up, the crew began eating breakfast, which was oatmeal. However, an unusual event occurred when an "unconscious" diver was spotted floating next to our boat. It turned out to be the beginnning of our final Rescue scenario. We methodically rescued the diver, found his missing buddy, and performed CPR. Later, we went on a fun dive at the reef close by and then sailed to Road Town. After leaving Road Town we won a race between our boat and the other two catamarans on dive side. The evening then started with a delectable dinner and more fun to come. Happy birthday mom!

Today was a great day in the land of Rescue. In the morning, we dove the Fearless in search of the great toilet. Once we located the toilet, we used our newly acquired skills of knot tying and lift bag use to bring the toilet to the surface. Our first attempt failed miserably, but as usual we learned from our mistakes and came succeeded the second try, which put us one step closer to our Rescue Diver certification.

This morning we woke up at a relatively decent hour. In between the rush of make-up divers diving off our boat, we rushed down a cereal breakfast. Next, some of us went skiing and wakeboarding for the last time. Some mastered jumping the wake, slalom skied, or even got up on skies or boards! Next we picked up our anchors and raised our headsail for a relaxing sail to Road Town. When we arrived we split up for shopping, lunch, and calling home. My personal favorite was Hiho, 100% Caribbean surf shop, where most of us picked up colorful rash guards, tshirts, and board shorts. It was a hot day, but most of us cooled off with an ice cream and Ting. Finally, we sailed back to Great Harbor where we had a stir fry dinner and a study session for the upcoming exam tomorrow.

Once we finally anchored we ate a delicious meal of Mexican food, although sadly we did not catch an seagulls this time.

Today we woke up super early for a fun filled race day. The first race was 45 min and we were neck and neck for second place (we eventually tied). The second race of the day was an intense race filled with tacking. Even though we have the heavier, larger boat because we are the dive boat, we managed to pull out second place again. It was super-duper close. Then we had an amazing Mexican fiesta and we finished the day with Lifeworks.

Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
Today we went from Sidney's Peace and Love with rather good sailing weather. We then made our way over to Green Cay. We hung out at the beach. At night we had our final sail chat. The main thing we did today was practice for a sailing race tomorrow. The funniest part of the day was when Musgrave and Emeraude had a huge chicken war. Overall today was more of a preparation day for what is going to happen tomorrow.

Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
Today we sailed for most of the day, practicing different drills and getting evaluated on our skills. After a long day of sailing we arrived at a small island called Sandy Spit. Our boat had a full cleaning routine and could not go to the beach until we were done. So we quickly cleaned up so we could enjoy the beach. Once we were all there we hung out in the water, played some football, and had an overall great time.

This was quite a hardcore day, we had to wake up at 6am and go on a long hike up the tallest mountain in Tortola- Mt. Sage. The hike was fantastic, the views incredible. The weather was fine, hot as usual although there was a significant lack of wind. I found the best part of the day was the hike, very refreshing. Then we had a sand castle building competition. As skipper I found the day very nice.

Today was quite interesting! First thing was rise and shine to a nice hike to Mt. Sage. Mt. Sage is a long, site-seeing hike. It may be difficult, but the view was definitely a sight. After the hike we got to eat lunch at a restaurant which had great cheeseburgers, and where Jimmy Buffet wrote Cheeseburgers in Paradise! After, we enjoyed a nice sail to Sandy Cay and had a sand castle building contest. Of course our boat was the best old school, "the turtle!!" We came in third! After that we motored to Jost van Dyke and had a party at Sidney's Peace and Love. We stayed and partied til eleven. Then we went to bed dreaming for another interesting adventure.

We sailed to Brewers Bay today, the weather was nice and calm. We then had a search and recovery dive, which involved the shipmates having to find sixty one cents on the bottom of the ocean. After spending some time underwater, my buddy and I came up with twenty six cents. Amazingly, there was a dolphin very close to us and we swam with it, Jim was able to touch it. After some confusion in the galley, Brad took over and made an amazing peanut sauce and Asian chicken dish.

Day 13
Author: Daria D.
Location: Sommer's Beach, Tortola
Today began with a healthy breakfast of scrambled eggs. With our stomachs full, the five Quest shipmates set out to begin our first community service projects: turtle tagging! This consists of gearing up in our snorkel attire, firing up a couple of dinghies, and slowly being pulled through the bay looking for sea turtles. Our Cedar dream team caught three turtles. They were successfully tagged and released. One had been tagged previously and we updated his data. The Vega side of Cedar had a rotation day, which included a morning scuba dive, followed by wakeboarding and Pico sailing. We reunited for a cookout with all the ActionQuest boats on the beach. Another wonderful day here in the beautiful BVI!

The Carinas and Barracudas went diving on the sand highway and at the bottom we got to play with eggs. Tonight was our second beach BBQ. We had so much fun in the games which challenged our minds to beat every other boat!! Stay tuned for more logs about our adventure here!

Day 13
Author: Alfredo R.
Location: Sommer's Beach, Tortola
Today was a rotation day in which we did scuba diving, waterskiing/wakeboarding, watched a marine biology movie, and motored to Sommer's Beach. We started off the day with oatmeal and quickly moved onto the mooring at the scuba site and prepared our gear. The Quest people also did something interesting which was turtle tagging. After the diving rotation we moved on to waterskiing and wakeboarding. After that we had lunch which was mac and cheese. We then went to Watermelon and watched a marine biology movie. Right after that we went back to our boat and motored to Sommer's Beach where we had a beach BBQ. There we also had games and the funniest one was in which we dug Claudia in the sand.

Today we had a rotation day. And of course I'm skipper, so I get a hammock! I broke open my knee again so I didn't go diving, but I went waterskiing. Then we had a BBQ! That was so much fun!

Day 13

Ahoy mate! We just dropped anchor at Sommer's Beach. Today, we just dropped anchor at Sommer's Beach. Today, as usual, was another fun filled rotation day! We started off the day with delicious blueberry muffins baked by our very own Emily at 5am this morning. Apparently someone didn't get enough sleep last night. We then dove at a magnificent site called Sand Highway. Though we were not able to stay on the highway long we were lucky enough to see a stingray before we took the Tengger exit. Then we wakeboarded and Pico'ed. Boomer even joined us wakeboarding! Tonight we will dine under the stars for a beach BBQ! Until next time, cheers mate!
